How it all Began
The idea for a personalised Message Scroll delivery service was first born during a period when Amanda Hegedus (Message Scrolls Managing Director) traveled overseas on business many times throughout the year to South East Asia. The traveling was tough. Her husband would wave goodbye at the front door while Amanda would leave in a taxi to the airport - it was heartbreaking - good byes at the airport were too much to bear! Amanda would send a letter from the airport's Australia Post so that her husband would receive written word from her during her absence. Letters sent from overseas would arrive after her return to Australia, the mail system in some parts of South East Asia was very slow. Soul mates separated for the sake of work, she sent flowers and gifts while away, but what she really wanted was a love letter hand delivered, when she knew her husband would be either at work or home missing her. But, there were no such services available - Amanda wanted something personal that could be delivered professionally, without a song and dance. |

| One time, in May 1998 when Amanda was traveling yet again, she arrived in Indonesia and as she stepped from the aeroplane, immediately sensed uneasiness in the air. The minor riots that had occurred throughout remote parts of Indonesia in the previous weeks had an unsettling effect on the people. Tension was felt everywhere. The feeling Amanda had soon proved to be more than a feeling - some of the worst riots the country had ever seen broke out soon after her arrival. Many people died. Amanda was extremely lucky to have come out of the experience unharmed and was able to be returned home safely.
That experience was the beginning of a life changing decision. Amanda knew that work was not worth the danger, life was too short. Always interested in pursuing her own business, she quit her job a few months later and decided to develop her idea of delivering love letters. She started off with the concept of delivering letters in the form of a scroll for people traveling overseas, who could not make it home for special occasions.
Now, scrolls with special verses are available through stores for everyone, and for all occasions - not just those separated by work commitments! Amanda and her team take great pride in their handcrafted Scrolls. And best of all, Amanda and her husband now travel together, always, the way she wanted it to be in the first place!
